ABOUT THE AUTHOR: A former military officer and evangelical minister, Martin M. Cassity Jr., (or Mac as he likes to be called) grew up in Oklahoma, came east to West Point and M.I.T., spent six years in the military, and settled in Massachusetts where he joined a religious movement that led to Bible school, ordination, a faculty position, and the founding of his own church. But Mac's conviction that spiritual authority flows from within, not from church hierarchy and official doctrine, led to his de-ordination and dismissal, to the split of his own church, and to severe upheaval in his personal life. This crisis ushered in a dark painful period of inner reflection that finally gave birth to a personal renewal, along with a torrent of creative energy which flows forth in his prose and poetry, and his paintings (he's also an artist). He currently resides in northern New Hampshire where he owns and directs Spruce Hill Studios, a small business that deals in books, art-prints, and U.S. stamps (every stamp is a work of art). SHS also provides editing, ghost-writing, custom art & ad-design services.
